Julieta TORRES

Undergraduate Researcher

Julieta Torres is a Denver Colorado native, whose family comes from Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico. She is currently studying at the University of Colorado Denver as an undergraduate majoring in Biology. While working in an urban landscaping job in her last years of high school her work focused on environmental science and improving of urban community, this piqued her interest on the effect of environmental contaminants in the community and the possible health risk it can come with. This led to her joining the Colorado Undergraduate Research in Environmental Health Sciences program (CUREHS) in June 2023 which allows under-represented minorities in gaining skills and research opportunities in the scientific field. The program led to her working in the Lampe lab, her research consists of researching per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and their effects on drug metabolism by carboxylesterases.
